Matter are Fabrizio Matrone and FDK. In the nineties they met each others in a rehearsal studio in Pompei and then they met again playing guitar and bass respectively, in a punk hard core band. After the stealing of their instruments, taking place in their rehearsal garage, they started their first testing sounds independently, using the little means remained. In the meantime they started to visit their friend Retina.it at their studio, a paradise of synthesizers, multi-effects and DIY instruments, gymnasium for hears and minds. At the end of the nineties first recordings took place. It was about instrumental improvisations composed of long drones, guitar and bass feedback recorded on a 4 tracks borrowed from a friend of them. During these recordings they decided to move to Bologna for cultural excitement of the city that soon appeared to them ephemeral. At this time recordings were characterized by fusion of field recording and isolationist ambient style. And it is here that a lot of productions came out. "Alphaville" produced by self-managed label Nectanebo as a Jean Luc Godard's film tribute. "Last land sonology" with FKdrone and Fmchloroform's moniker produced by net label Sinewaves. "Decrease of contamination" was the first issue for moniker Matter. Its atmosphere didn't strayed from isolationist ambient style. "Sunset ep" produced by net label Modr. Its sound was close to idm. These productions didn't go unnoticed. Marcel Nickels aka "100Blumen" and "The Man", who is label manager for "Le Petit Machiniste", appreciated a Matter's musical choices, so "Technology and Planetary Power" came out, produced by "Le Petit Machiniste". "Land of Discordia" was the last album but one produced by SMK. At Last , "Scanning Memory" the Matter's brand new album comes out.
